NDC CUTS ITS OVERHEADS

According to the National Dairy Council (NDC) annual report launched last month, it has reduced its establishment and administration overheads last year by €60,000.
This represents a 15.5 per cent decrease, or €325,819.
Annual overheads have also come down with savings of €113,128, which represents a 29 per cent decrease in direct costs. The NDC will further reduce its costs this year by relocating to Sandyford Industrial Estate saving nearly €50,000. Its AGM and conference attracted a big industry turnout, with Paddy Wall and Richard Curran among the speakers.

JOHN HORAN APPOINTED
CHAIRMAN OF THE NATIONAL TREATMENT PURCHASE FUND

Former Chief Executive of the Veterinary Ireland John Horan has been appointed Chairman of the National Treatment Purchase Fund by Minister for Health and Children Mary Harney.
The National Treatment Purchase Fund was established in 2002 to arrange faster treatment for those patients waiting longest for surgical procedures. Horan retired from Veterinary Ireland last December after 10 years at the helm.
