Teagasc will hold an information and communications technology (ICT) agri seminar on Friday, February 26 in the Aviva Stadium, Dublin.
The theme for the event is: Shaping the future: Targeting opportunities for ICT in agriculture – where we are now and where are we going?
The seminar will bring together farmers, industry, research and funding partners from Ireland and Europe.
“There is a lot of interest in the opportunity to respond to key challenges, from food security to climate change, by enhancing the role of ICT and robotics in sustainable agriculture,” said Dr Frank O’Mara, director of research in Teagasc. “This seminar will showcase what Ireland is doing in this space and will allow Irish researchers, farmers and industry to interact with European experts in the area. It is an important initiative as we seek to bring together the ICT and agriculture communities.”
The keynote address at the seminar will be delivered by Dr John Bell, director of bioeconomy at the European Commission. He will address the issues, challenges, and opportunities for ICT-AGRI in Ireland and Europe.
